Quarantine has provided everyone with a little more free time than usual. Because of this, many people are branching out and exposing themselves to new things, such as films they’ve never seen before or books they’ve never read.

BOOKWORM. The cover of Terese Mailhot’s Heart Berries, one of the recommended books.

Madeline Brennan, Entertainment/Technology Editor

Having already written an article about movies to watch during quarantine, here’s my list of must seen books to read during quarantine.

  1. My Sweet Audrina by V.C. Andrews

– A book so traumatizing I cried for a good ten minutes afterwards. But seriously, it’s great! V.C. Andrews is a genius and I will go to my grave insisting that she deserves far more attention than Stephen King.

  1. Heart Berries by Terese Marie Mailhot

– A book so lyrical and captivating I read a chapter before I go to bed every night because, despite the sometimes traumatic subject matter, Mailhot is a genius with words.

  1. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

– This might count as cheating since this a series of books, but they’re all so much fun I couldn’t pick just one. Snicket is a great author and one of my childhood favorites.

  1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

– This classic is a perfect feel good book, and while Georgian English may feel a bit daunting for the average reader, you get it after just a few chapters in.

  1. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

– A book about family that perfectly encapsulates sisterly bonds. Plus, once you’re finished you can watch Greta Gerwig’s marvelous adaptation!
