Mrs. Willis Shares Scholarship Information

As we enter the final months of the school year, there are a variety of scholarship opportunities. Below, Mrs. Willis shares with the Pirate Log readers all the opportunities available!

  1. Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group (OSIG) scholarship

Seniors, this application is somewhat different.  Poteau High School can only submit one finalist for this scholarship. Please read over the application carefully. If you would like to apply, I will need this complete application by Feb 28 so that we can determine which applicant best meets the criteria. 2. Erma Whittett and Lois Henderson Education Scholarship

3. Jimmie L. Dean Scholarship

The Jimmie L Dean Scholarship Foundation is now taking applications for the 2020-2021 academic year through April 15, 2020 at their website  This foundation has provided individual scholarships every year since 2010 of up to $10,000.  Their mission?  To provide financial assistance to Oklahoma students who will attend Oklahoma colleges.   Students must have a minimum 25 ACT if they are planning to attend a four-year college/university and a minimum 17 ACT for trade schools.  Special consideration will be given to students pursuing degrees that are science related or students wanting to make or build things or serve in a health science field.  According to their e-mail announcing the scholarship, they will not consider “majors [of] music, performing arts, English, literature, Psychology, Sociology, Journalism, Business, Pre-law, Political Science, Music, Education or similar majors.”
