Despite the rain, family and friends of all those who participated in this year’s ICAP Powder puff game piled in to fill seats at the Poteau Costner Football Stadium on September 24th

The goal of this year’s maiden voyage event was to bring awareness to our new career readiness program called ICAP, and to raise money to help fund career readiness activities for all Poteau students.  The premise of the powder puff game was to put our Senior girls up against the Junior girls in a 7 on 7 no tackle flag football game. While the ladies put on a dynamic showing, the most intriguing highlight of the event was our young men of the Senior and Junior classes that cheered and performed halftime entertainment.

Our Poteau High School students demonstrated unity and school spirit by their participation in the powder puff event.

Much gratitude goes to the administration, teachers, janitors, and volunteers that helped everything run successfully. We are especially thankful to our business partners for their support including: Roger Mattox Jr. Fat Man’s Great Eats, Brian Brooks Farmers Insurance and Financial Solutions, Chad Fox CDF & Associates, Jody Adams Cabinet Doors, and Mike Soehlman DM for Harps.

The icing on the cake was a halftime performance by the talented young Bandit cheer squads. The evening came to an end with the traditional gathering on the field for pictures and a healthy rivalry celebration by the seniors who pulled off the victory.
