We all know how terrible dry skin can be. It’s bad enough having dry skin, but dry skin during the winter is the worst!

A few reasons why we get dry skin are windy environments, not staying hydrated, lack of humidity, and even taking too long of a shower.

One extremely important thing to remember during winter, is drink lots and lots of water. Everyone forgets this tip during winter, but it is so important to keep up with them.

Water keeps you and your skin hydrated leading to no irritated, itchy, dry skin during these cold months.

Exposure to annoyingly rough winds, can lead to dry and cracked skin. One way to prevent this, is wearing appropriate weather attire. Using moisturizing lotions is also a huge way to prevent dry skin.

Try and avoid products that will potentially dry out your skin.

“Check the labels on your skincare products, and avoid toners and other products that contain alcohol, which can dry out the skin,” said a L’oréal Paris’s “Your Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Skin Care Routines” article.

As much as we all love a long hot shower, you should keep them short and cool during these shivering months. As much as everyone loves them, long, hot showers will eventually dry out your skin even more.

All in all, if you stick to these tips, your skin won’t drop a flake. Just be sure to cover up, and down that water!
