Dear Editor,

The Poteau High School “Pirate Players” are to be commended for their recent productions of “Xanadu, The Musical”.  These students, along with their drama teacher and director, Lauren Peck-Weisenfels, gave attendees two hours of wonderful entertainment during each of these performances.

These talented students dedicated countless hours of hard work to this endeavor, in addition tot heir normal busy schedules of classes, studies, and extracurricular activities, and it showed.  From hair, makeup, and costumes to lighting, sound, and sets, this was a top-notch production.  The actors were believable and entertaining, well-rehearsed, and seemingly at ease in their performances.

Kudos to all involved!  What a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours.  I encourage our community to support this theatre troupe in their fundraising efforts for an upcoming trip to New York City.  They lend hope for the next generation.

As a side note, it is not all that common in this day and age to see the family support that Lauren enjoyed with the participation of her mother, husband, brother, sister, niece, and nephew in this endeavor.  That speaks to the closeness and love of the Peck family and is commendable, as well.
