After months of practice, members of the Pride of Poteau Marching Band can boast that their hard work has paid off.

On Saturday November 3, 72 students went to Durant for the All-District Honor Band try-outs.  Thanks to their hours of practice and the guidance of directors Joey Marsh and Mary Perkin, 45 of those 72 were named as a member or alternate for the Southeastern Oklahoma Band Directors’ Honor Bands.

“I’m so proud of the students that auditioned today for All-District Band, because they have grit!” exclaimed Perkin in a Facebook post where she announced those 45 students who had been chosen.

PHS Students who qualified for the 8th/9th Grade Band include Emily Teague, 5th Chair Flute; Heather Guyll, 18th Chair Clarinet; and Triston Barber, 2nd Chair Percussion.

PHS Students who qualified for the 10th-12th Grade Band include Savannah Fabian, 1st Chair Flute; Dylan Richmond, 1st Chair Bassoon;Maritsa Martinez, 18th Chair Clarinet;  Niky Gutierrez, 1st Chair Contra Bass Clarinet; Suzannie Santos, 4th Alternate Alto Sax; Caitlynn McBride, 6th Chair Trumpet; Josh Piguet, 1st Chair French Horn; Tanner Montgomery, 8th Chair French Horn; Levi Ryan, 5th Chair Trombone; Breonna Ford, 8th Chair Baritone; Yair Camargo, 5th Chair Tuba; Bruno Santos, 8th Chair Tuba; and Landon Perkin, 6th Chair Percussion.

PHS Students named to the alternate list include Harlie White, 1st Alternate Bass Clarinet; Andrew Ellis, 1st Alternate Trumpet; Emily Barnes, 4th Alternate Trumpet; Serenitie Woodard, 2nd Alternate Trombone; Harlie White, 4th Alternate Baritone; Jaylan Hickson, 4th Alternate Tuba; and Phoenix Klein, 2nd Alternate Percussion.

The students will attend a workshop on January 27 with a concert to follow at 2 pm on the Southeastern campus in the Montgomery auditorium.
