February 16–The PHS Powerlifting team competed at the Panama Tournament.

The team, which is coming back from last season’s titles of Regional and State Champs, hopes to maintain that title this season.  They are off to a good start as they placed second during the Panama Tournament.  Of the 29 students who competed, there were multiple PR’s, with almost every lifter acquiring points for the team.

One of those PR’s came from senior Kayleigh S., who dead-lifted 285 pounds.

“She lifted better than some of the guys there,” said senior teammate, Caleb P.  “She was also the only girl at the tournament.”

Coach Mike Odom is excited about the season, looking forward to adding several guys to the team after wrestling is completed.

The PHS Powerlifting team will go to Regionals on March 1 at Antlers.  State will follow on March 9 at El Reno.
