On December 15 and 16, Poteau hosted the annual Border Brawl.

The Border Brawl is a two-day wrestling tournament held before Christmas break each year.

On Friday, December 15, the tournament started at 5 PM. The tournament resumed at 11 AM, Saturday morning. The Border Brawl was held at the Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.

The Officials for the tournament were: Dan D., Tony P., JFV, and Sam S.

The Schools that competed were: Poteau, Checotah, McAlester, Wilburton, Greenwood, Vanburen, Northside, and Southside.

The Poteau Wrestling team was looking to defend their Border Brawl title again this year, and they achieved their goals.

Poteau was followed by Van Buren (Second Place), and Checotah (Third Place).

The Pirates winning this tournament means that they now have the Border Brawl title for the third time in a row.

After this tournament, the Pirate Wrestling Team will compete at Evangel Christian on December 29-30.
