How Love Works

It starts out as something simple and sweet.

The way they laugh, the way that they smile,

With your heart beating fast all the while.

Then it turns into something more concrete.

Your days are now happy and more upbeat,

You now have something that is worthwhile.

Thoughts soon turn into walking down the aisle,

And life without them would be incomplete.

But then slowly everything starts to change.

Now there’s more fights and you’re always crying,

No longer sweet, are their cute little quirks.

Everything’s turned awkward and seems so strange,

You’re no longer happy and I’m not lying.

You really hate it but that’s how love works.
